The Faculty of Earth Sciences, Geography and Astronomy is one of the most diverse faculties/centres of the University of Vienna. With 480 employees, including 29 professorships and 12 tenure-track professorships in seven institutes/departments, we work for research and teaching around the topics of "cosmos", "earth", "environment" and "anthroposphere". As a third-party funding manager, you support this research and are thus part of our faculty third-party funding service.

What are your tasks:

• You support the project investigators in the initiation, application process (e.g. budget planning), and during the start of third-party funded projects.
• You manage selected budgets in the context of third-party funding.
• You contribute to informing and communicating about third-party funding issues.
• You work at the interface between researchers, faculty, internal university institutions (research service, human resources, finance, etc.), and university external institutions (funding bodies and project partners) with regard to third-party funded projects.

What you bring with you:

• You have a Bachelor's degree or specialized baccalaureate or equivalent qualification preferably in a field close to the faculty.
• You have experience in research funding and with third-party funded projects in science.
• You have a very good command of both German and English as well as good legal and adminstrative understanding.
• You like to work in a responsible, structured and accurate way and are good with numbers.
• You are service-oriented and like to find solutions.

We are offering a six-year, fixed-term postdoctoral position in the field of Yiddish Studies. You will propose your own research project on a topic within Yiddish studies. The position is based at the Faculty of Philological and Cultural Studies at the University of Vienna under the direction of Univ.-Prof. Kriszta Eszter Szendrői, B.A., PhD.Your future tasks:Active participation in research, teaching & administration, which means:You will carry out excellent scholarly work on your research project and write scholarly publications (articles or a monograph) on your research project.You will represent your research at scholarly conferences.You will collaborate with Prof. Kriszta Eszter Szendröi to create an Erweiterungscurriculum in Yiddish Studies and contribute to its teaching and administration.You will assist with the organisation of conferences, lectures, workshops and contribute to the organisation and/or teaching of the University of Vienna Summer School on Yiddish Language and Culture. This is part of your personality:You have successfully completed a doctoral degree in Yiddish Studies or a related subject.Your main research interest is in the field of Yiddish studies. If you have additional research interests that is an advantage.You have a sound knowledge of Yiddish literature and/or linguistics and/or cultural history and/ or Ashkenazi Jewish history and the methods of your subject area. If you have knowledge of more than one subject area that is an advantage.You have a very good command of Yiddish.You have a very good command of written and spoken English, knowledge of German is an advantage (language learning will be supported during the employment period).You are a team player and are interested in playing an active role in the vitalization of Yiddish cultural life.
